The Biggest No-Brainer of Them All- – Today’s Family Devotion

The Biggest No-Brainer of Them All

Reading Time: 2 minutes
Bible Reading: Romans 8:38-39

Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39

Let’s take a little quiz. For each statement below, check either true or false.

□ True □ False      Fire is hot.

□ True □ False      Water is wet.

□ True □ False      A rock is hard.

□ True □ False      The sky is up.

□ True □ False      Pickles are disgusting.

All right, how did you do? If you checked true for each statement, you’re pretty smart. Now, the people in your family may have different opinions about pickles— though that doesn’t change the fact that they truly are disgusting! But that was a pretty easy quiz, right?

What made it so easy? The statements are all about basic facts and knowledge. Every statement-okay, except maybe the last one-is a no-brainer. Everyone knows these statements are true simply because they are. They really aren’t that complicated.

Here are a few more statements. Check true or false for each.

□ True □ False      God loves you.

□ True □ False      God will always love you.

□ True □ False      Absolutely nothing can separate you from God’s love.

Do you think those statements are still no-brainers? You should, because they are. In fact, they are more certain than the first set. Even when being a Christian is difficult, God’s constant love for you is totally real.

Now let’s try one more quiz. Check true or false for each statement.

□ True □ False     God’s love runs out when you sin.

□ True □ False     God stops loving you if you eat too many pickles.

□ True □ False     The devil can cut you off from God’s love.

□ True □ False     God doesn’t love you when you think bad thoughts.

□ True □ False     You lose God’s love if you fall asleep in church.

No-brainers to be sure, because they are all totally false. You might need to seek God’s forgiveness for some of these acts, but you will never lose out on his love for you.

TALK: What do you think about the fact that God’s love for you never quits?

PRAY: God, thank you that your love for us is total and unending.

ACT: Explain to a friend today what it means that God’s love for us never ends.
